The O2BlueCarbon project addresses a systemic challenge facing coastal areas: the economic vulnerability of fishing communities and the accelerated collapse of marine biodiversity ecosystems. It transforms macroalgae cultivation into areas of income generation and marine biodiversity recovery, promoting the generation of carbon credits and making the three-dimensional approach essential for a viable regenerative solution.

Tell us more about the proposed solution of the project.How will it work?

O2BlueCarbon offers High Integrity Blue Carbon crypto assets. They are backed by NbS projects for the regenerative cultivation of marine macroalgae.

We started the 2025/2026 harvest with protocols for preparing and systematically tagging the cultivation lines. Each module has a unique identity, allowing quantitative monitoring of biomass and the collection of auditable primary data on carbon sequestration in real time. This data feeds into the tokenization of BlueCoins, ensuring that each environmental asset is verifiable and audit-proof for corporate financial reporting.

What will be the main activities of the project and how will the resources be applied?

The O2BlueCarbon project prioritizes pragmatic validation of the tagging protocol in the field, focusing on the operationalization of the primary data stream and community co-management. The main activities involve testing ruggedized hardware in aggressive saline environments, establishing traceability for auditable primary data (CO2, biodiversity, and social impact), and implementing training funds and grants to ensure the economic security of partner coastal communities during the non-productive algae growth cycle. Prudently, the grant funds will be applied surgically to the acquisition of durable monitoring technology with contingency.
